  • Mechanical Engineering

PDC provided the mechanical engineering design for this design/build project at Fort Wainwright. The project included three facilities:

  • A 19,280 sf. Barracks
  • A 8,300 sf. Company Operations Headquarters (CoHQ)
  • A 6,169 sf. Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC)

FTW350 Warrior in Transition FacilityThe facilities were designed using 2010 Revit to help achieve the required LEED Silver rating. PDC also completed the energy calculations and ASHRAE 90.1 compliance documentation. The design was extremely fast-tracked with the underground package approved for construction within five months of NTP.

Unique design strategies included using a hybrid HRV with VAV boxes in the Barracks to provide individual cooling control for each bedroom and living room in the facility. The Company CoHQ and SFAC were provided with radiant floor systems and all three buildings used snow melt systems at building entries.
