PDC has been engineering mechanical systems of nearly every description since 1975. Although many of these facilities are located at remote sites, including Arctic and Antarctic locations, we also have project experience in temperate and even tropical environments such as Hawaii and Guam. While a good deal of our design efforts are related to sophisticated facilities such as hospitals and laboratories, we also provide mechanical engineering design for military and industrial facilities.

Industrial
PDC has a strong background in industrial work, including designing ventilation for Alaska's largest hardrock mine (a project requiring fans capable of moving 250,000 standard cubic feet per minute at 10-inch water gauge); full stream fabric filtration systems designed to clean up 680,000 actual cubic feet per minute of boiler flue gas; and renovation of existing power generation plant systems including boiler feed water pumps, low voltage station power, and installation of new flue gas heat recovery systems.

Institutional Facilities
PDC has been designing mechanical systems serving schools, visitor centers, offices, museums, hospitals, scientific laboratories, and other types of institutional and commercial spaces since 1975. Many of these facilities require design of humidification and dehumidification systems to control indoor environments.

Our remote and cold regions design experience provides us with special knowledge in the design of energy efficient systems. Since Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems became commercially available, PDC has pioneered their application to control HVAC equipment. As a matter of fact, our early, innovative use of DDC technology in 1985 and 1986 led to an ASHRAE Energy Award for energy-conserving mechanical systems design.

Fuels
PDC's Fuels Group has evolved to provide world-class fueling projects in which our clients can take pride. Selected personnel from PDC's mechanical engineering group make up the core of our Fuels Group. Central fuel distribution systems employed at airports (including aircraft hydrant fueling), as well as truck fill stands, pipelines, and fuel storage tank installation are, by their nature, multi-disciplinary projects utilizing civil, structural, and electrical engineers as well as mechanical engineers.

Energy
PDC has extensive experience in energy projects for a broad range of applications:
Power plants
Campus central heating and cooling systems
Battery storage facilities
Generator systems for remote sites

We are experienced with energy savings performance contracts, alternative energy processes, and renewable energy sources.
