As a young kid I was always fascinated by large buildings and bridges. I knew that designing structures like those was something that I wanted to be a part of. Being a part of engineering the Eva Creek wind turbine generator foundations was a very rewarding process for me. I got the opportunity to collaborate in the design of something our company had never done before at that scale.
I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect of my daily work. Each project presents a unique puzzle, and I look forward to the challenge of finding its solution. Structural engineering involves a wide variety of materials and systems, all of which have ongoing research taking place to better them. Continuing education is something I believe is critical for structural engineers so that we can consistently deliver efficient and successful designs—whether it is by listening to seminars, reading papers, or taking the occasional grad class.
