I maintain ownership in my ideas and creations—they represent me and my integrity and I want to see them succeed. I get to come to work every day to collaborate with intelligent, creative people, while at the same time solving unique and complex problems. Ultimately, we get to be a part of our designs getting built. I love what I do – it is the best job in the world!
We have created a fun and productive work environment, where we get to use the latest computer hardware and design software technology to create interesting designs using out-of-the-box solutions. The ESOP has created an environment where each employee has the ability to influence the company, and the projects we work on, for the better. Not many places can say that. It truly is a pleasure working here.
One of my favorite projects I worked on was at the South Pole Station in Antarctica; redesigning part of the station ventilation system. We like to think of ourselves as cold weather experts in Alaska, but the South Pole is like another planet altogether. Austral winter temperatures dip down below negative 100°F, the station is between 10,000 ft and 11,000 ft of elevation, and the wind blows like crazy. All of this results in some very challenging problems when creating a comfortable environment for people to live and work in. Cool stuff, right?
