Civil & Environmental Engineer
I consider my work successful when it is innovative, implements a new technology, or provides better service to a community. I started my first day at PDC working on the Steese Highway Rehabilitation project, and for 10 miles at a time, I worked on improvements to over 40 miles of the highway. We made improvements to icing areas, soft spots, fish passage culverts, and the quality of the road in general. I went from being an entry-level staff engineer to stamping and signing my first set of plans for that highway.
One of my favorite projects I worked on was the University Avenue Rehabilitation and Widening project in Fairbanks. It was amazing to work on since it had so many parts and pieces to consider. I learned something new every day. There was so much to take into account with all of the utilities, right-of-way acquisition, and design standards.
