Civil & Environmental Engineer
I worked construction for several years after high school. After talking with a doctor about the damage I was causing my body, I chose to go the engineering route instead because it seemed to be an enjoyable career.
I am happiest when we design interesting projects, when our clients are satisfied because the project is on time, and the users get to enjoy a project that improves their lives. That improvement might be through reduced travel time, safer roads and airports, or more convenient dumpsters. The Chena River Bike Path and Centennial Bridge is a perfect example of this. Design through the various stages was exciting, and now a person can ride for miles along the river downtown, from Peger Road to Fort Wainwright, without ever crossing a street.
