When I think of the most successful projects I’ve been involved in, they are the ones that, at the time, were the most demanding and challenging. Success comes in overcoming adversity – whether that is tough environmental permitting, complex designs, or challenging schedules. Once the project is done, and the client is happy, you actually forget the pain and suffering that occurred along the way.
I’ve done a lot of airport projects in rural Alaska, and although improved transportation has caused a change in their traditional way of life, I also believe that improved access has allowed many Native Alaskans to remain in their villages instead of leaving. They now have access to medical care, food and schools. I like knowing that I have helped in some way to allow them to live in these remote areas and still hold onto many of their traditional ways.
I come to work each day and get to collaborate with so many bright people to provide great projects for our communities (all of Alaska), and to do my part to make sure PDC is a great place for our employees to work.
