PDC completed this design on a fast-track schedule. Civil 3D was used to produce 13 miles of plan sheets, integrating preliminary engineering, survey data, ROW limits, and hydrological data provided by others into a cohesive PS&E set. Under a separate contract, PDC prepared the Categorical Exclusion and permits.
As part of the design and permitting process, PDC utilized GIS to delineate wetland impact areas and calculate impacted acreage. The flexibility of GIS allowed our team to integrate AutoCAD design drawings and re-calculate impacts quickly as the design changed. Likewise, we automated the permit map production through customized ArcGIS extensions and produced graphics 80% faster than traditional AutoCAD drafting.
