The facility includes a passenger terminal building, passenger terminal rail access, balloon track, an access road from the Johansen Expressway, and bus and auto parking areas, all located within the existing railroad industrial yard. PDC was actively involved in the planning, agency coordination, environmental document preparation and approval, public involvement, design, and construction administration. Planning and design of a mainline passenger track and two future passenger sidings, a track for the new inspection building, a new balloon track, modifications to the existing TOFC track, planning for a passenger main to bypass the freight classification yard, and a fast-track design of an extension to the inspection track.
PDC prepared all of the bid documents for the site work, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs for the 15,000 sf facility. The terminal includes exposed structural systems, a foundation to address soil liquefaction, and a 300-foot covered waiting area for passengers. PDC provided sewer and water service to the terminal building and maintenance platform, water main extension for fire protection, site drainage, bus and auto parking, and intersection improvements to provide access via the Johansen Expy. PDC coordinated relocation of high voltage power transmission and distribution lines across the terminal parcel & relocation of electrical distribution lines and phone lines near the balloon track.
