PDC provided complete design of all engineered systems, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. This three story, 97,000 sf Army personnel barracks complex involved two buildings and a new Company Operations Facility for a construction cost of $27M.
The project included 144 sleeping quarters on three levels, handicapped units, recreation rooms, laundry facilities garages, and asbestos abatement. Living quarters were arranged in 1+1 modules, each consisting of two individual bedrooms with a shared bathroom and kitchenette. Full site amenities and improvements were included. Site work included design of resident parking areas, outdoor recreation areas, grading and drainage for the 8-acre site, foundation earthwork, and extension of utility lines in 700 feet of new utilidor.
PDC provided an extensive review of the original structural design, including calculations and specification, and made modifications where appropriate. The structural review included a remodel of the facility to ensure that the original design met all loading conditions and applicable code standards.
All work was coordinated with existing development and the FWA master plan. Our designs contributed significantly to the project’s achievement of a Silver SPiRiT rating from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
