In 2013, PDC was selected as the Prime Consultant for this large evaluation, design, and phased construction renovation. The original 3- story structure was constructed in 1976, with an addition in 1985 and subsequent years. Under Phase I, PDC engineers provided a seismic hazard evaluation, condition survey and system energy audit of the entire 196,606 sf building. The evaluation report included SPCC for the findings and prioritized payback calculations for the identified energy conservation measures.
A 3D-Tier 2 evaluation and analysis was also performed in accordance with ASCE 31-03, which evaluated the structure’s ability to resist the Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE). This evaluation focused on deficiencies identified under the Tier 1 screening evaluation.
In conjunction with the Phase 1 condition survey, PDC provided drawings, specifications and SPCC’s on an extensive mechanical renovation of the school which included complete replacement of the heating and domestic water distribution piping systems, upgrades to the central heating plant, and major renovations to central core public restrooms.
