PDC provided the design and construction oversight for the demolition and the installation of new above ground pipelines and fuel storage tanks for Municipal Power Plant 2.
The new fuel oil supply lines include two 4-inches and one 2-inch line installed on steel piles and one 10-inch high pressure underground gas line. Engineering for the project encompassed pipe stress analysis and the design for piles, pipe supports, expansion joints, and cathodic protection for the systems.
The retrofit of the piping included a variety of custom structural supports and seismic bracing to ensure a robust code compliant system. Construction work was coordinated with on-going Plant operations.
New fuel storage tank bottoms for the two million gallon tanks were installed as well as new tank coatings, stairs from the access road to the pit, and a new liner for the entire tank farm.
